I have become lost..........

RICHARD PFLUMM
September 15, 1961- February 13, 2011

There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same, and time is divided into two parts- before this, and after this.*

On February 13th, I have had such a moment. Im not gonna harp on the event, but suffice to say, I have realized I have lost my way.

Looking at the picture above- I have remembered what I really enjoy. Being outdoors. Watching and observing nature. Having a sense of place in the natural world.

Over the years, it seems I have replaced what really mattered to me with pixels and bytes. I have taken what was one a tangible pursuit and replaced it with a non tangible world.

Dont get me wrong- computers are great- there has never been a more informative time in the history of mankind than the present. But it seems to be coming at a price. A price I have now become uncomfortable paying for. The price of wasted time is a price for young people to bargain with.

As I approach my 5oth, and armed with the knowledge I have a limited amount of time- perhaps only a few years, I think Im going to spend more time in the radiant glow of sunshine and less behind the illuminated pixels of my computer.

Sure when the sun sets and I have some time to waste..............

*Great line from the movie Fallen
